Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I am so glad you have found us here
at Christ's Church of the Hills. We
worship together each Sunday at
9:30. We welcome you whatever
your tradition. In the word of our
communion service "all those who
love God and those who would like
to love God more are welcome at
this table." We welcome children to
worship and always have something
in our service just for them before
they go downstairs to Sunday
School.

We will offer Vacation Bible School
this year July 20-24th. This year the
program is in the capable hands of
Judi Lucks and Jen Pirrone. They
will be supported by volunteer
teachers from the church. We look
forward to another fun year.
Nine new members have joined us
so far in 2008. Each one says in
some way that they were drawn to
being a member of this community
of faith. We work at looking out for
one another. We enjoy fellowship
through weekly coffee hours,
monthly Men's Breakfasts, and
Women's Luncheons, a game night
and we even had a progressive
dinner this spring. We are working
on an adult Bible study of the Book
of Exodus.

We serve the community in which
we are located by supporting many
community organizations providing
food baskets at Christmas,
Thanksgiving and Easter. Yet, we
are always open to new ways in
which we can be good neighbors in
this part of
Schenectady/Rotterdam.

We have begun offering Extra
Helpings here at the church. We
collect orders for this food buying
program run through the Regional
Food Bank in Latham and disburse
that food at the church for our
neighbors. This program is not
income based, or age limited in any
way. All it is is good food at quite a
reduced price. No one will ask any
personal questions All we ask is that
you order and pay in cash by the
date on the flyer and pick up our
order in a timely manner so we
don't have food thawing all over the
place.

As pastor I am responsible to the
congregation and together we have
set a goal to reach out into the
community to let people know we
are here building a welcoming,
hopeful, supportive congregation of
people who love God and their
neighbors as they love themselves.
We are, as all churches are, a work
in progress. Won't you join us?

In Christ,
Rev. Susan Strang
