Youth Group News Youth group is off and running. We have had two meeting so far and about 15-20 youth at each with lots of energy and good ideas. They will meet the first and third Sundays of each month and all youth between 6th and 12th grade are welcome. Their first function as a group will be the Annual Election Day Pancake Supper on November 4th from 5-7. We will also be holding our Thanksgiving pie baking. Orders will be taken from now until November 17th. We will be making Apple and Pumpkin pies for $10 each. The money raised at these events will help defer the cost for the members when we attend weekend retreats and possible Glory days at the Great Escape. Thank you all for your support. The Deacon's Corner At our last meeting it was decided that we would do our own food baskets for Thanksgiving. If you know of a family or person that needs one please notify one of the Deacons listed below. We had a nice social gathering after church service to dedicate the new pavilion that Sean Koetzner built for his Eagle Scout project. The Deacons have purchased table coverings for all the tables. They will be used when the church has dinners rather than buying plastic and throwing them away. We are also in the process of making additional copies of the photo directory to give to new members and friends. We are collecting items to send to Cory Gregg who is serving in Iraq. One shipment has already been sent and we will continue to send as the basket in the back of the church is filled. God Bless our troops whether serving in arms way or in a safe environment. Please remember to keep us informed of anyone needing our services. Your Deacons: Peg Cernik, Deanna Johnson, Judi Lucks, Karen McKean, Nancy Marotta, Carmen Mulyca, Abby Nelson, Betsy Nelson, and John Scheuer Christian Education November 2008 Last week we finished Part II of Esau and Jacob. The kids did a really great job on the memory verse with lots of prizes given out. Next week we will start Noah's Ark. I like to go over some of the classic Bible Stories along with stories that are not so familiar to the kids. The teachers for this rotation are Jen Pirrone instructing Drama, Deanne Johnson doing Arts/Games/Cooking and Nicole Nelson teaching Movie Theatre. Our memory verse for Noah's Ark is from Genesis 7:15-16 "Noah took a male and a female of every living creature with him, just as God had told him to do. And when they were all in the boat, God closed the door." This is the last rotation for the year. I hope to put together a small Christmas skit on with the kids and we will be putting that together in December. I would like to remind you that our Advent celebration is on November 30th. We will have a pot luck supper starting at 5:00 and then immediately following people can make a craft with Judi Lucks or can help decorate the church and the Christmas tree which will be put up the day before and be ready to go. We will sing some of our favorite Christmas hymns and then Pastor Susan will give a blessing for the season. Please join in the fun! |
